IEEE NSU Student Branch organized “Workshop on Mobile Application Develipment”

On the 16th and 19th of March 2017, the most-awaited workshop workshop on “IEEEmadC (Mobile Applications Development Contest)”, an international contest conducted by IEEE for all students across the globe, was organized by IEEE NSU Student Branch supported by IEEE Bangladesh Section. Held in the library building of North South University, the workshop’s goal was to familiarize potential contestants in Bangladesh with the essential knowledge and skills required to build an Android mobile application.

Wordh-Ul-Hasan, IEEEmadC Ambassador 2017, initiated the program with introduction to what IEEEmadC is, How to participate in IEEEmadC, What kind of apps were previously developed in IEEEmadC and other necessary details about madC that motivated the participants to participate in madC Afterwards, the participants were acquainted with the programming concepts required for mobile app development through his interactive lectures and demonstrations using streamlined, yet captivating slides. They later engaged in an ample amount of practice in writing simple code, before gradually moving on to develop a few applications. The first one was an application for making digital birthday cards. Any difficulties encountered by the students were promptly dealt with. The workshop was seven-hour long, but sufficient breaks and refreshments were provided.

During the end of day one, Anirudha Adhikari, Software Engineer, Telenor Health A/S, shared his past experiences of creating an Android mobile application alongside providing some useful tips. The notion that meeting the demands of the user of an application trumps all its other aspects was emphasized the most. .

On the second day of the workshops the participants were taught how to make an app interactive and they build an coffee ordering app.

Lastly the curtains were put down with Wahida Taskin Bhuiyan, Lecturer, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, NSU; gave a speech where she encouraged participants to get more into mobile application development and handed over the certificates to the participants. They were also given with some small souvenir like Bag badges and IEEEmadC Stickers.
